PRESIDENTS REPORT

Greetings shipmates, here ‘s hoping we find you all in good shape at this time of the year, with winter coming to an end and Spring around the corner, in fact it’s less than two months till we move back to daylight saving , which is good sign that better weather is on its way ??

At the recent National Council meeting hosted by the Taupo branch, we were pleased to welcome our Patron Rear Admiral Tony Parr RNZN, also  Cmdr  Andrew Saunderson Director of Naval Excellence and Lt Cdr Paul Gray Deputy director of Naval Excellence, who took Nation Council members through a comprehensive process to discuss  recruiting new members and  retaining current membership of our association.

As a result work action schedules were drawn up as process for Council and Branches to work on and complete their findings and results, then forward them to the National Secretary for evaluating.

During part of the seminar the National Council came up with the following “Vision Statement”
“A vibrant, sustainable, and welcoming Naval Organisation for all ages, promoting Unity, Loyalty and comradeship for shipmates and their extended families”.

This should be used as often as possible, such as in advertising for new membership.

Work action plans have been forwarded to Branch Secretary to complete, remembering that your actions will be in an effort to increase your membership.
I would like to thank the RNZN Excellence team for their time and presentation to the National Council, on behalf of the membership which will be of immense value to the Association as a whole.

I would also like to see more branches display their newsletters on the web site as some branches are already doing; helps keep in touch with what other branches are doing.

I attended the Rotorua Branch’s annual Make & Mend  recently, with visiting Branches Morrinsville, and Western B O P  in attendance, which made for a good day of meeting old shipmates  and some new ones and of course the traditional “Up Spirits” dancing to some good old music, and plenty of raffles and fine food.

Well shipmates take care of yourselves and yours till next time.

Yours   Aye.

Keith Gordon.
