Here is something you ex communicators can get your teeth into especially you Sparkers. A retired communicator, who now has more time on his hands has offered to do some of the legwork in producing a book on the history of HMNZS IRIRANGI and the important part it played in our Maritime History. It is not intended that this communicator do all the leg work, reserach, editing and everything else which goes into this type of project. I believe there are sufficient personnel still around who have fond memories of the place and could share in the preparation of a book on the subject. I am also sure there would be information in the Navy Museum which could be used in such a publication. Bits of the history is scattered throughout all our memories and I believe this would be a good project to get these memories on paper before we all cross the bar. So before we go off half cocked I would like some indication from the members who would be interested in doing a little bit of research and putting pen to paper in providing some facts, figures, stories, (not too many lies) on the History of HMNZS IRIRANGI. I will also canvass some of the serving Communicators who are still around to complete the IRIRANGI story from when it became unmanned and keyed remotely from Auckland. If you are interested in this project drop me back an email and we will see how best to coordinate the effort.
