James Frederick Potter (NZ 8300093) passed away this morning in at
Hector (just north of Westport) near Ganity, at approx 0830.
The Funeral will be held in Westport on Tuesday morning. 11.00, (Westport RSA has it in hand) He died of Lung Cancer.. at home
RNZNA member No 292 of the Ch.Ch. Branch
Jimmy was a very bloody good friend of mine, & a great mate, we
joined pussers on the same day, (3rd Sept 1959) Jim's service # was an
Army one, for he was, for a short period of time in the Army as CMT, so
kept that #
He served on Taranaki for a short period. but during the Indonesian
confrontation, served on Santon. under Lin Tempro (Lt.Cdr) and from
Santon, he served on the RN fast motor Boat HMS Camberford (doing fast
attack incursions up the rivers around Borneo/Malaya) for a period
before returning to Santon.. He was an FC 2 .. made killick for a brief
period, but lost his hook,
Jimmy will be sadly missed
