David Davies would like to hear about or to hear from people who were HMNZS Irirangi during the following years.

1943 -1950 inclusive. 1973, 1993

Also a bit thin on the ground for the following years and would like to hear from more people who were there in:

1951, 1955-56, 1963, 1965-67, 1969-72, 1979, 1981, 1991-92

There are very few of the Wrens who have responded

I would also be grateful to hear from any wives who would be prepared to contribute by telling me what it was like running a home and getting children off to school etc at Irirangi, what they thought of the Married Quarters etc.

A "manual database" has been drawn up of those who have told me of the dates when they served at Irirangi and this weekend's job is to draw up a chronology of events over the years.

Questions for this week.

Exactly where were the Caves?

The official History of the RNZN shows a photo of Eggy Biggs as a two badge P.O.Tel teaching morse at Philomel. However, he is also said to have joined Naval W/T Station, Waiouru in 1942 (Sept) as an Acting Temporary Warrant Tel (in a sort of Clerk of Works capacity while the station was being built). Seems a big jump in a very short time despite wartime conditions. Can anyone clarify please?
