Sir, I am trying to find out any information available on John Caldecott Mosford, ex Lieutenant Commander of the RNZN. I am uncertain when he retired from the navy but do know that he was brought over from England to help set up the Diving Branch within the RNZN. I do know that he served in the ranks and was on HMS Achilles during the Battle of the River Plate.
Any information on his service within the Navy would be greatly appreciated. Best regards Frank Guard Email:

Terry Martin (Dargaville), Al Sullivan both must remember Splint Woodyard! Are you out there? ----- 26 Feb 06 - Came across your website and wondered if you can help me.
My father (Michael Hordern) served in the FAA from 1940 - 1956. He is now 86. In the war years he flew with many New Zealanders. 'Jerry' Jeram, 'Tiny' Devonald, Sam McPhee, Pat Gill, Peter Bethell, 'Doc' Burke and 'Dusty' Miller - all 888 squadron I think.
Having just written his memoirs, I was wondering if there is a way of trying to track them down .... I have a few names. The squadrons were 803, 806, 888, 893, 1832, 1850, 762, 736, 741, 800, 802.
Any ideas? I would be grateful for some help. Thank you - Tony Hordern - email:

ROBERT HAWKINS
Marjorie Hawkins is seeking on behalf of her husband Robin, any information on Robin’s father whom he believes was a Chief Petty Officer on Achilles. Sadly Robert died in 1946 and they do not have a photograph of him so hopefully someone out there can help or even write to Marjorie. Marjorie’s address is 173 Waiti Rd, Timaru.
HENRY GRIFFIN
My wife and I are trying to trace-an old fiend with whom~ hay~ touch. We met him in Singapore in 1989 / 90 whilst I was a serving British Merchant Navy officer. His name is Henry Griffin, at that time he was a Medic, serving in the Royal New Zealand Navy, based at Sembawang in Singapore. He visited as on a visit to England some years ago, staying at our house in Liverpool.
I recently wrote to 'Griff as my family are planning to visit New Zealand in August & would like to meet up again, but there was no reply, so I think he may have moved house. If you have a more recent address for him, it would be a great help if you would forward it to me. If there is a restriction on your giving out information such as that, I would be very grateful if you would forward this letter to 'Griff, wherever he is, so that he make contact me. If you can help me with my enquiries in any way, please do not hesitate to contact me. Thanking you.
Yours faithfully, Neil Mungo, 12 Reservoir Rd Woolton Village Liverpool, L25 6HR England

BARRY GASCOIGNE
I am writing on behalf of Michael Colborne an ex WO Wtr and an old friend of a Barry Gascoigne who emigrated to New Zealand from the UK in the 50s.
Michael and Barry served together in the RN at Chatham UK on CinC's staff as Writers in 52/53, but lost touch when Barry emigrated to New Zealand and joined the RNZN, it is understood he joined the Writer branch or it's RNZN equivalent.
Michael will be travelling to New Zealand early next year on holiday and is trying to contact Barry with a view to a reunion. White Pages has drawn a blank and I was wondering if perhaps Barry was a member of your Association. If he is I would be most grateful if you would pass on my contact details to him on Michael's behalf. Should he prove not be a member any advice as to other channels I could use to try to trace him would be gratefully received.
Thank you for your time.
Kind regards
