PRESIDENTS REPORT - Feb 09
Hello to all Shipmates
As I will be standing down as your President at the National Conference in New Plymouth on Easter Weekend this will be my final report.
I must say it has been a Privilege and a great Pleasure to head this organisation for the last 2yrs also the 2yrs as President of ExRNA before that. My wife Cherryl and I have certainly enjoyed our roles and have met and made many friends all around New Zealand. We will still keep in contact and look you up when passing through your towns as I hope you will when in New Plymouth.
One regret I have is that we have not got the country covered with branches but there is a remit to be discussed at Conference that may change that situation. Eg Hawkes Bay and Southland. Probably another disappointment is the personality clashes that occasionally occur in branches. We all served together and any work that is done or organised should be for all shipmates not just for those that are your friends. I ask you to keep your personal thoughts out of Association and Branch matters. The TS Taupo based at Paramata won our Association trophy this year and National Councillor Trevor Appleton and myself attended a parade on Feb. 10th. and presented the cheque which goes to the winning unit. Chief of Navy RA David Ledson is retiring at the end of April and will be attending Conference. As yet the new CNS hasn’t been announced. 1st. Biennial Conference Easter Weekend Fri.10th. -- Sun. 12th. April 2009 at New Plymouth. Taranaki Branch is looking forward to hosting the Conference.

To Brian Gill our National Secretary a big thank you for the marvellous job you do as Secretary and have done over the many years I have been involved with the both Associations. I can remember when you took over the reins from Dennis Warren and to me and I’m sure many others you have always done everything to the betterment of firstly the ExRNA and now the new RNZNA in a very dedicated manner and I’m sure you will continue to do so. I am still involved with National RSA committee and have been appointed to the National Pensions & Welfare Committee so will still be keeping an eye on whatever concerns or helps our shipmates.
