Former HMNZS Canterbury sinking Print E-mail

The BOI Canterbury Trust has extended an invitation and would like all original crew members to consider attending the sinking of the Canterbury. It would be appropriate to acknowledge "the first crew" to witness former HMNZS Canterbury's final rest @ Manawahuna (Deep Water Cove) Bay Of Islands.

The current date is 13 October but that is still subject to change. It is very hard to be absolute since, at the end of the day, weather will decide the date. Those things under our control may only provide 90% certainty. (as advised 25 May by Jock O'Connor - Project Co-ordinator)

Social events would be organized around the event most likely including a BBQ type meal on Canterbury the evening prior to the sinking and maybe an acknowledgement with the BOI Canterbury Trust.

Colin Downie (Te Awamutu) and Lou Uren (Cambridge) will form the initial steering committee, we would like to extend our invitation to any other ex crew member who may wish to be involved in the organizing and some one in North Auckland preferably around the BOI would be appreciated.

Interested parties can register their interests with Lou Uren (027) 206 9341 This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it Or 16 A Alpha Street Cambridge.
