Although I have seen a reference to a pilgrimage made by the US Second Marine Division (i.e. the Leathernecks) to New Zealand in 1973, I believe that there was an earlier one in 1963.

I am wondering whether anyone would have any information about this 1963 pilgrimage, as to when and where it took place and whether it was organised by Royal New Zealand naval personnel at the time.  Any information would be much appreciated, as I have had an enquiry about a beer label which I resume was issued to commemorate the event.  If you know of anyone who might have been present at the time, that would also be very helpful, though I should imagine that only a few might still be alive.
