Change of Command Ceremonies for Three Navy Ships Print E-mail
Monday 16 January, 2006

Three separate ceremonies to mark the official change of Commanding Officers for the HMNZ Ships TE KAHA, ENDEAVOUR and MANAWANUI will be held on Thursday 19 January 2006, at the Devonport Naval Base, end of Queens Parade, Devonport.

The Change of Command Ceremony is traditionally formal and impressive - designed to strengthen that respect for authority, which is vital to any military organisation.  Chief of Navy, Rear Admiral David Ledson, will review the ceremonies.

During the ceremony for Dive Tender HMNZS MANAWANUI at 0830, Lieutenant Commander John Crighton (Takapuna) will relinquish command and Lieutenant Commander Mark Longstaff (Devonport) will assume command.

During the ceremony for frigate HMNZS TE KAHA at 1030, Commander Keith Robb (Gisborne) will relinquish command and Commander Andy Grant (Picton) will assume command.

During the ceremony for tanker HMNZS ENDEAVOUR at 1330, Commander David Hedgley (Devonport) will relinquish command and Commander James Routledge (Wellington) will assume command.
