  • 30 September 1994 - Old Cookery school demolished
  • 1 October 1827 Battle of Navarino - last naval battle under sail as a British, Russian and French fleet defeated a Turkish and Egyptian fleet as part of the Greco-Turkish War.
  • 1 October 1941 - Naval Order 1941/169 is enacted establishing the title Royal New Zealand Navy
  • 2 October 1901 - The RN's first submarine is launched as HM s/m No. 1 and later renamed Holland 1
